INTERVIEW WITH LALA & BEA

nmp-caspian

I’ve had a bit of a summer break with my interview series, where I chat with female entrepreneurs. But I’m so excited to be back with the lovely ladies, Caroline and Katie, behind children’s brand Lala & Bea. They make and manufacture all their products here in the UK. From funky woolly hats, to organic skincare and beautiful clothing for your little ones.

The lounge wear with deer print is perfect as a Scandi inspired alternative for Christmas morning. But they also do some cool design-your-own PJ’s which would make a great creative gift for older kids.

ScandiMummy: “Caroline and Katherine, welcome to the blog. I’d love to start by finding out how you came up with the name Lala & Bea?”

Caroline & Katie: “The name is a mixture of both of our daughters’ names. We have a Fenella and a Beatrice so Lala & Bea is the combination of their nick names. We both wanted something personal and meaningful – every time we say it makes us smile inside!”

ScandiMummy: “You are the first duo I’ve interviewed. What is it like to work as a team? Do you ever disagree and if so how do you resolve it and move forward?”

Caroline & Katie: “Hand on heart we have to say we adore working as a duo. Of course there are times we have different opinions and we disagree, but its easy to work things out. We are both incredibly thoughtful of each other and we have been friends for nearly 20 years so that all helps when working together. We do have a similar sense of humour and laugh at really silly things so spending time with one another is never a chore!”

ScandiMummy: “Being such good friends must definitely help. I love that you are creating products of high quality which can be passed on from child to child. What do you see as lasting trends when it comes to kids fashion?”

Caroline & Katie: “Kids love bright colours and playful designs, that’s always going to be in fashion. Quality is so important and we strive to search out the best makers and manufactures for our unique designs. We are proud that our products stand the test of time and are strong and practical for every day use.”

ScandiMummy: “I completely agree with the bright colours and playful designs. I noticed you have quite a diverse range. Which areas would you still like to explore and create new products in?”

Caroline & Katie: “We have had amazing feedback from so many people and magazines who have bought and tried our family skincare range. We would love to develop that more and see where we can take it.

We are constantly developing the ranges and love the way products go off in different directions. We are in the process of developing more interactive products like our Design Your Own PJs so there are more products to come with creativity in mind. We would also love a full knitwear range some time soon, so watch this space!”

ScandiMummy: “That’s sounds exciting. Where do you see the business as a whole in 5 years?”

Caroline & Katie: “We would love to see Lala & Bea have a physical shop one day, that would be the dream. We love dealing with customers and hearing people’s stories. That’s why we adore doing all the fairs. Its a great chance to meet our customers and find out what other products might be relevant.”

ScandiMummy: “We love the lounge wear and wish you all the best for the future. To round this off, tell the readers something random?”

Caroline & Katie: “It’s impossible for most people to lick their own elbow (try it). We are always having fun and being silly at Lala & Bea and sometimes the sillier you are the better, that is our philosophy, plus it makes life more interesting that’s for sure.”

Did you just try and lick your own elbow? I did. You can check out Lala & Bea and all their gorgeous products online.

NB! Please note we were kindly gifted the lounge wear from Lala & Bea. All words and opinions expressed are my own.

  2. I very cruelly asked Pinky to lick her elbow the other day. It was too funny! I love this brand, I have seen lots of their stuff on social media recently, I love the Scandinavian patterns especially as an alternative to the usual Christmas ones.
