This winter we took a trip to Bristol and as Caspian had outgrown his car seat we were on the lookout for a new one. The lovely people at Kiddies Kingdom offered us to try the affordable Joie Tilt. They have a wide range of car seats available for all ages.
It’s suitable from birth to approximately four years (18 kg). It’s practical as you can keep it rear-facing throughout and transitions well from infant to toddler stage by removing the insert supplied.
The seat weighs 6.43 kg and using the seatbelt we found it easy to adjust and install in our rental from Europcar. Our car is currently in need of some TLC and therefore off the road. The Joie Tilt comes with a 5-point-harness and can be reclined to allow your child to rest. It has shoulder harness and lower buckle covers ensuring a comfortable ride for your little one.
Caspian is, however, a bit of a mini Houdini when it comes to wriggling out of a harness but the Joie Tilt system did give him a challenge once we managed to fit it correctly and we had an easy trip from London to Bristol despite being held in traffic.
THE JOIE TILT IS REAR FACING UP TO FOUR YEARS
You must keep your baby rear facing up until 15 months as per the law. Though it’s recommended to do it longer as it’s considered to be safer for the child. The Joie Tilt is, therefore, ideal as you can keep it rear facing up until four years, or 18 kgs. I love this and I’m a big believer that it is for the best. Caspian’s very long legs are a bit of a hindrance tough and we had him forward facing in the rental car. I do hope that he will be able to stay rear facing once we install the seat in our own vehicle.
It’s important to note that not all car seats fit will all cars, so it’s worth researching your choices before ordering. Have you tried the Joie Tilt? What did you think?
