6 WAYS TO HAVE A FUN-FILLED CHRISTMAS

Collaborative Paid Post

The Festive Season is slowly making it’s way towards us. While many of us attempt to get our Christmas shopping and gift wrapping done early, and the Christmas food all sorted in good time, you might be wondering how you can keep the kids busy in the run up to Christmas. Well, don’t worry – you won’t have to rely on the same Christmas films being on over and over again to keep them occupied. Here you’ll find a little inspiration, so you can have the most fun-filled family Christmas, ever!

GET AHEAD WITH PLANNING

It might not be the weather or the time of year to be heading outdoors to do some gardening, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do a couple of little indoor projects. Whether you get the kids planting some cress in some decorated paper cups, nursing and caring for a plant indoors before it heads outside in the spring time or even planting bulbs ready for next year, there’s plenty of ways you can keep them green fingered during the Christmas break. If you want some more inspiration then try this website.

SURPRISE THEM DAILY

Christmas is an exciting time for any child, so why not take it up a gear in the week before Christmas with a daily surprise? If you make this gift something that will keep them occupied for a couple of hours then it’s a win, win for both of you. Something like a colouring book with some new colouring pens, a new DVD, a jigsaw puzzle or a second hand book from a charity shop.

PREPARE A CRAFT CORNER OR BASKET

In the run up to Christmas try to build a supply of craft supplies and make and do things. Craft paper, scissors (with adult supervision), glue, pom poms, stickers, pipe cleaners, lolly sticks, glitter, paint, chalk, pieces of felt and anything else you can think of. If your kids start moaning that they’re bored then you can send them to the craft basket and tell them to get making!

GET THEM IN THE KITCHEN

There’s always plenty of baking to do during the Christmas holidays, whether it’s baking for gifts, baking for guests or baking for a nice treat. Getting the kids involved will certainly keep them busy for a couple of hours. Just make sure they help with the washing up afterwards!

HAVE THE CHILDREN WRITE LETTERS

If they haven’t already written letters to Father Christmas then get them writing. They could also write letters to relatives letting them know how excited they are to see them in the coming weeks or how much they’re going to miss them over the holidays. Get them creating their own Christmas cards to send to their friends or the neighbours if they haven’t already.

GET OUTDOORS

Cabin fever can quickly set in over the Christmas period, with tempers easily frayed and emotions running high. Sometimes the kids might just need a bit of fresh air just to blow the cobwebs away, if the weather is dry, simply bundle them up and let them play in the garden!
