SLUMBERSAC SLEEPING BAGS – REVIEW

Read what we think of the Slumbersac sleeping bag with feet

This might be a coincidence – OR it might be that I’ve found something that I should have invested in a long time ago! Actually in a way I did and then I thought Caspian had outgrown it. So I didn’t get any more. What is she on about you might be thinking now? I’m talking about sleeping bags. Not any old sleeping bag though, but one with feet! Or holes for feet!

It sounds simple enough and not like the greatest baby gadget on the planet, but hear me out. When I first became a mum and were doing all those middle-of-the-night-feeds I did a lot of online shopping. I have a feeling my bank manager is just as happy as I am that Caspian doesn’t wake as frequently any more. I had heard of sleeping bags and came across a company called Slumbersac. They had great reviews and some good offers so I bought a couple of sleeping bags for Caspian after reading more about the benefits.

This was in the days when he would settle in the side cot and before we started bed sharing. I struggled to get him to keep a blanket on and was naturally scared it would end up over his head even if it did have tiny holes for breathing. A long with a breathing monitor these sleeping bags gave me peace of mind. Plus Caspian wasn’t too hot nor too cold.

He was however very long! So he quickly outgrew his side cot and transitioned to sleeping with me in our bed with a bed guard for protection. He also outgrow his sleeping bag. Having loved standing up from an early age and starting crusing at 7 months I couldn’t see him in the next size up. I think he would have gotten frustrated and possibly tumbled over if he did manage to get to his feet in the bag. So we stopped using sleeping bags.

Being in with me we both got better sleep as being close meant fewer wake ups and milk on tap. But I feel his sleep was sometimes turbulent due to changes in temperature. I tried giving him a separate duvet, but that often ended up on the floor at the end of the bed. I had him covered with our duvet, though it’s heavy and hot plus there was the fear of him sliding under it. I tried layering him up, but that often made him too hot and clearly not comfortable. And then something magical happened…

I was invited to review the Slumbersac sleeping bag with feet. I was intrigued and chose the same owl print that I had picked for his very first sleeping bag and it made me all nostalgic to think about how much he’d grown. It was an instant hit. Admittedly it’s a little on the big side, but at the rate Caspian’s growing it wont be for long. He looks ridiculously cute as he waddles around the house. It’s super practical though. If he does happen to wake up during the evening and has to be brought into the living room I don’t need to dress him in an extra cardigan or strip him of layers. Neither do I need to get him dressed first thing in the morning as he’s very comfortable playing in his vest and sleeping bag.

And he seems to be sleeping much more soundly. I feel like a new mum, as since the sleeping bag arrived I’ve had the most peaceful nights since before he was born. It’s clear that he’s very comfortable and that makes me super happy and able to relax. I would definitely recommend this type of sleeping bag for toddlers, as I think it’s an excellent invention. My only negative is because it’s on the big side he’s feet sometimes slip back up into the bag and he gets a little frustrated as he can’t stretch them then, but that’s only happened a couple of times and as soon as it fits better I’m sure it will be fine.

This is the 2.5 tog version and it retails at £20.99 with free delivery, but Slumbersac currently has 25% off their summer range which is made of a thinner muslin fabric. I’m definitely getting one for the warmer months and hopefully it means Caspian will continue to sleep this well.

Have you tried the Slumbersac sleeping bag with feet?

Please note that we were sent this sleeping bag for free in exchange for an honest review.
