As you might know, I love Afternoon Tea. For my friend’s December birthday I decided to treat her to an afternoon out. It was mainly for selfish reasons as she is amazing company, a great listener and a fantastic friend. We are both mums but met before we had our children and have been on a journey of love, heartache, boys and growing careers for over a decade now. Being each other’s cheerleaders and family. We live opposite ends of London so don’t get to meet up that often. The original plan was to meet in central London but between the current train strike and me bringing Orsino in the buggy we ended up in Richmond. It’s a beautiful place on a cloudy day and an even better one when bathed in December sunshine.

I’ve worked with Buyagift for quite a few years and love their wide range of experiences. These include afternoon tea on any budget. They collaborate with the independent chain of Revolution Bars and offer cocktail masterclasses as well as afternoon tea there. It seemed like a superb match and I bought the experience through them.

As we visited on a Monday the huge space was fairly quiet which suited us fine as we love a good natter. Plus we had Orsino with us and didn’t annoy anyone with the buggy taking up space or being in the way. Revolution is located on the Thames in Richmond so you have a great view of the riverside. It’s an impressive space that is normally buzzing if you visit at cocktail hour or on the weekend.

The Afternoon Tea is quite traditional in that you receive a plate of savoury treats, scones with cream and jam and a plate of mini cakes. It varies depending on what the chef has in and I advise calling in to check they serve it on your chosen day. Along with a choice of tea or coffee.

What makes it special is that you can choose one of Revolution’s renowned drinks. As we visited at noon and with a baby we opted for a much simpler glass of Prosecco but if you go late afternoon definitely try one of their expertly crafted cocktails.

You’ll find Revolution Richmond on 4 Whittaker Ave, Richmond TW9 1EH. It’s open daily and the Buyagift voucher which is currently £26* down from £35 is valid year-round.

Disclaimer: I have worked with Buyagift before but this is not a sponsored post and I wasn’t asked to write about my experience.
