On the 24th of November we traveled the short distance to Wimbledon Park to attend a lovely evening full of delicious food, bubbles, talented carol singers from Holland Park Opera and most importantly men in kilts… I mean Christmas trees! We had been fortunate enough to have been invited by the lovely people from Pines and Needles, who not only hosted this fantastic event but also gifted us a 7 foot Christmas tree.
Growing up in Denmark we’ve only ever had real trees as is tradition there. Moving here 7 years ago I was surprised by the number of fake trees around and as much as I can see the practicalities in having one, nothing beats the magic of a live tree in your living room. The scent, the colour, the uniqueness of each one!
Caspian is fascinated by the tree and all it’s decorations. So far he’s been pretty good at not pulling off too many. Though with his love of balls the baubles better watch out.
The Nordman Firs from Pines and Needles are grown responsibly in Scotland and can be delivered to your door. By men in kilts I might add! Ours arrived late Friday evening and they brought it up three flight of stairs and unwrapped it, too. The guys made sure it was secure in the clever stand, which allows you to water the tree. This means it keeps until Christmas and looks bright and green all the way through December.
With our Victorian house and quite classic interior style we’ve gone for traditional decorations and old wooden ornaments in red, green and gold.

The Nordman Fir is known for limited drop and blunt needles, so great if you have children or pets. So far it’s keeping well and looks beautiful.
