Even though I mainly work from home I’m starting to realise that I need to be very strict in keeping my work and family life separate in order to get things done. It is no easy task especially when your family in a way is your work.
As Caspian is growing up he can start to do more things on his own, but he also requires more attention. Dedicated attention from both me and Daddy Long Legs. Something we are naturally happy to give him, but sometimes struggle to do as it feels like, especially as a blogger, the shop never closes. This is something we’re working on in trying to strike the right balance to make everything run smoothly and make sure our happy boy stays that way.
I was therefore super excited to receive a copy of the new book THE WORKING PARENTS’ GUIDE TO RAISING HAPPY AND CONFIDENT CHILDREN by Nadim Saad, co-author of the KIDS DON’T COME WITH A MANUAL series. A review will follow in the coming weeks when hopefully I feel less stressed after implementing some of the practices used in business to improve our family life.
Nadim Saad is a working father-of-three and serial entrepreneur with an MBA from INSEAD. He has a wealth of experience in leadership, having founded and expanded companies in three different continents. He regularly speaks on parenting themes within large corporations including Barclays, HSBC and JP Morgan.
He is passionate about sharing the transformative parenting tools that have made such a difference to his own family life and the lives of thousands of parents who have been coached through Best of Parenting. Nadim founded Best of Parenting with his wife, Carole Saad, a Montessori-trained teacher, relationship coach and NLP practitioner. It’s funny coz I’m currently sat on the sofa reading blogs for #KCACOLS while my son plays happily with his jigsaws. The thought crossed my mind of “should I be playing with him?” But then I realised that a) I am a working mum and need my down time – Sunday mornings are usually it, b) he needs to learn to play independently as well as with others and c) we do plenty of activities together so I should give myself a break and not feel guilty.
The work, blogging, parenting, wife balance is a difficult one. I wonder if anyone ever gets it perfect.
