PIED A TERRE – FIVE COURSE TASTING LUNCH 

The restaurant is located on Charlotte Street in fabulous Fitzrovia, London. Here you’ll find interesting galleries, fun bars and luxurious boutique hotels. You are also only a short walk from the West End if you want be entertained by the latest musical after your lunch at this fantastic French restaurant.

The intimate yet light and airy dining room of Pied à Terre is the perfect setting for an experience of French cuisine at it’s absolute best. The attentive staff is at your service from the moment you enter through the glass doors, yet quick to judge whether you’ll need round-the-clock attention or would prefer for them to let you enjoy your lunch undisturbed. The beautiful surroundings is a well-balanced mixture of old and new with the spectacular art piece of golden quails catching your eye as you are seated.

Head-chef Marcus Eaves takes you on a culinary journey. It is a rare thing for Daddy Long Legs and I to be out without Caspian, so to treat my man to something so special as this was a wonderful gift for both of us. We were presented with the menu and asked if there was anything we’d like to change or if we had any dietary requirements. Everything looked delicious and we soon had a selection of bread to choose from and canapes served.

The menu changes daily and on this Wednesday we had the pleasure of the following:

• Canapes
• Mackerel Tartare, Smoked Eel, Apple, Kohlrabi, Horseradish
• Cornish Hake, Hispi Cabbage, Purple Broccoli, Mussel Sauce
• Mallard, Turnip, Chantarelles, Blackberries
• Pre-dessert: Orange Yoghurt Mousse, Frozen Raspberries
• Mango, Chocolate, Lime
• Petit Fours

The mackerel and eel starter was divine, and we both agreed that the main course of mallard was our favourite though it was almost impossible to choose as everything was so delicately prepared and incredibly tasty. The caramelised mango with chocolate was the perfect finish to our meal with Daddy Long Leg’s calling the zinging lime sorbet eye-wateringly good!

To merely name it a tasting lunch doesn’t do it justice with the generous portion sizes and a lot of extras like perfect bite size petit fours to finish. You’ll leave with all your senses cared for after a visit to Pied à Terre!

Bite-size perfection!

The Michelin star awarded restaurant caters to busy business men and women looking to impress clients with a delicious lunch. The residents of the area who come in for the dreamy tasting menu, as well as the lovely ladies who have time and nannies on their side to indulge midday. The atmosphere was relaxed and we enjoyed this adult afternoon in this perfect location tremendously.

This experience would make a fantastic Christmas gift for anyone with a love of delicious food and excellent service. It’s £149 which includes the 5-course tasting menu for two and a glass of Champagne on arrival.
