In the summer of 2011, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. It came as a huge shock and affected the whole family. I was living in the UK at the time but moved back to Denmark for six months to help her through a troubled time undergoing an operation followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatment. I’ve seen first hand how hard it is for the person suffering but also what a toll it can take on those closest to the patient.
