If I remember to care for my skin, it generally looks better in the summer months. A bit of sunshine, more fresh air and no central heating at night to strip it of all moisture means that I don’t get quite as many comments on looking drained and tired at this time of year. But using good and nourishing products is still essential as is drinking lots of water as the temperature rises.
I’ve compiled a list of skin care brands and products that I really like and have enjoyed using recently. From sunscreen to face masks and a new day cream these products are great for keep me glowing in the sunshine.
Suncare
The French are fab when it comes to skincare. Caspian and I recently reviewed some natural products for children from Mustela. For my skin I often use suncare products from L’occitane. I first came across their range of hand creams and have since tried more of their other skincare products, which are just divine. Sun protection is needed all year around – especially if you have fair, Scandinavian skin like me, but it’s essential during the height of summer.
Facemask
When a product claims to have a wonder effect it has a lot to live up to. I’ve struggled with peel off masks in the past. They never dried properly and so made it difficult it take off the way they were intended. But the one from Elizabeth Grant is excellent. Apply it all over avoiding your eye area and leave to dry for 15-20 minutes. Despite looking like turquoise toothpaste I’ve found it really does do great things for your skin leaving it super soft after just one use.
Facial oil
In spring I tried some wonderful, organic products from Akar Skin. They did wonders in taking my dull winter skin out of hibernation. Especially their Desert Rose Facial Oil leaves your skin dewy and soft especially if applied at night. You wake up looking more rested. As it contains no water fillers, but lots of different vitamins it doesn’t clog your pores or leave your skin feeling greasy.
Day cream
Lastly I’ve started using the new illuminating day cream from Little Butterfly London. If you are a regular reader of the blog you might remember that I featured their lovely and luxurious children’s range earlier in the year. Now they’ve produced products for mummies that are safe to use during both pregnancy and while breastfeeding, which is a big plus in my book.
The cream is light and easily absorbs. It’s a great organic product and I’ll be featuring the rest of the collection which includes a super stretchmarks cream in the coming weeks.
Have you tried any new skincare products recently? Or do you have a favourite seasonal savior when it comes to looking after your skin?
